Our decision to remove the free plan: here’s why

Last updated: 4 months ago

Today, I made a significant change to replyhub.co by removing our free plan. This decision wasn't part of our original plan, but recent events highlighted the necessity of this adjustment.

After sharing posts about Replyhub on Reddit and Indie Hackers, we experienced a massive influx of traffic. While it's great to see so much interest in our product, it also brought some unexpected challenges. Many new users signed up using the free plan, but a concerning number of them filled our platform with random text like “sssssss” and “bla bla bla.” This misuse was not what we anticipated.

To address this issue, I immediately banned those users and decided to remove the free plan altogether. Now, new users need to start with a trial of one of our paid plans to continue using Replyhub. If the product works for them, they can then decide to subscribe. This approach ensures that we provide value to those who truly need and appreciate our product while filtering out those who don't.

Here are a few reasons why this change is beneficial:

  1. Quality Over Quantity: By requiring users to start with a trial of a paid plan, we can focus on providing top-notch support and resources to serious users who are genuinely interested in our product.
  2. Preventing Misuse: Eliminating the free plan helps us avoid the kind of misuse we recently experienced, ensuring that our platform remains efficient and effective for all users.
  3. Ensuring Sustainability: A sustainable business model is crucial for the continued development and improvement of Replyhub. Paid plans help us cover operational costs and invest in new features that benefit our users.

This change aligns with our commitment to delivering value and maintaining the quality of our service. We believe that those who see the real benefit in Replyhub.co will appreciate the trial period and understand the value it brings to their business.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far. We are excited to continue this journey with you and are committed to making Replyhub the best it can be.
